Position
Summary:
The position of EHS Assistant will coordinate and support crucial aspects of health and safety for the facility.
The EHS Assistant has the shared responsibility of ensuring the safety systems at the plant are properly implemented, ensuring compliance and personnel safety.
The EHS Assistant will be required to drive results by guiding implementation of company and site specific safety programs, perform job safety analysis, and identify opportunities to continuously improve safety performance.
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:
Assists with the implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Assists in coordinating efforts to train employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, equipment, and other materials.
Assists in updating and maintaining litigated workers compensation files, waste contracts, compliance audits and OSHA logs.
Conducts new hire orientation and contractor safety orientation programs.
Trains and coaches employees regarding various EHS topics and enters into appropriate databases.
Coordinates communication of safety programs.
Performs daily transactional duties such as filing, data entry and collects information and prepare weekly, monthly and yearly required reports for EHS.
Establishes and sustains relationships with all employees in order to foster an environment where near misses and safety concerns can be brought up without fear of reprisal.
Responsible for following all Food Safety policies, procedures and regulatory criterion including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices, and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated Preventive Controls.

Education and
Experience:
Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school or equivalent experience in a safety role.
Experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with good computer skills and knowledge of MS Office.
Ability to build and manipulate data in Excel and build templates for use by others.
Must be comfortable speaking to groups of people and facilitating meetings.
People oriented and have the ability to interface with employees at all levels of the organization as well as 3rd party and regulatory authorities.
High level of attention to detail.
Must be organized, and have the ability to maintain accurate records.
Physical Demands:
Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s).
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.
Additional demands may be required.
Work Environment:
In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.
May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.
May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.
May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
