Interested in working with cats? We are seeking a dedicated Feline Care Technician to assist in our in our cat condos at the Humane Society of St Lucie County.
Job responsibilities will include cleaning condos, laundry, feeding, etc.
It is most important to us that you have a passion for helping the homeless animals of Port St.
Lucie, everything else we can teach you.
Duties:
Assisting the public with viewing of cats available for adoption with the intent of finding the best possible home.
Assist in adoption selection process, providing information regarding specific cats to prospective adopters.
Always take the individual's needs into account.
Provide companionship and care to the cats through socializing, interactive play, caregiving, cleaning, grooming, and cuddling.
These important interactions allow our cats to gain socialization, behavioral skills, and comfort while at the humane society awaiting their new homes.
Also, educating the public on topics such as pet overpopulation, and feline population management.
Responsible for performing all assigned duties in a professional, proactive manner to achieve and maintain high quality care of all animals and providing excellent customer service to the public.
Evacuating all animals if an emergency occurs.
May be assigned to work out of shelter for special events as needed.
This will be assigned at least one week prior to the scheduled event.
Qualifications:
Are you at least 18 years old? Previous feline care experience is preferred but not required.
High school or equivalent preferred Are you comfortable with giving medication to cats/kittens or willing to learn? Are you able to stand for many hours, bend, lift up to 40-50 lbs? Must be familiar with and supportive of the goals and mission of the organization.
Must be able to safely perform their tasks, work completely independently, follow verbal and written instructions, and effectively communicate with staff, volunteers, and the public.
