Social Worker, PTSD Clinical Team (PCT) Coordinator

The Coordinator will have the responsibility to provide leadership, guidance, and coordination to the PCT staff members to ensure the mission of the PCT and Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences Service is being met correctly and timely. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Planning, organizing, and directing administrative, operational, patient, and personnel activities for the program. Establishing and maintaining effective therapeutic relationships with veterans in the PCT and/or their families. Working independently with veterans who are experiencing a wide range of complicated psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems, and completing thorough psychosocial assessments to determine appropriate diagnoses, psychosocial functioning, and treatment needs of the veteran. Providing therapy as individual, group, or family interventions when clinically indicated and appropriate and when the therapeutic benefit to the recipients. Actively participating as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and actively participate through collaboration with veterans and family as well as the interdisciplinary treatment team members in the development, documentation, implementation of patient centered, recovery focused treatment plan. Providing education to patients, family members, and significant others related to mental health conditions and their impact, with particular focus on PTSD. Participating in program planning and development, advising Management of shifting trends of function and clinical demand of the PCT and identifying recommendations for program procedures or policy changes as indicated. Facilitating discharge planning through collaboration with veterans and their families to ensure that appropriate discharge plans are executed in a timely manner. Reviewing clinical program effectiveness and providing feedback and recommendations for changes. Establishing priorities for the work to be performed and developing available staff resources accordingly. Utilizing knowledge of mental health special emphasis programs including but not limited to PTSD Program, Substance Abuse Program, Post Deployment Clinic, Mental Health Intensive Case Management Program, and Vet Centers. Developing, reviewing and updating policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and VA Medical Center standards, in conjunction with the PTSD Program Manager. Hearing and working to resolve patient and employee complaints, keeping the PTSD Program Manager advised of significant issues. Coordinating staffing for patient care and making adjustments during staff absences, patient crises, etc Appropriately document all patient care activities in CPRS, complete all required clinical documentation in CPRS, and complete treatment plans and treatment plan updates utilizing the Mental Health Suite in accordance with established Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences Service policies. Must have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. Experience:
Experience as a Program Coordinator for PTSD Clinical Team (PCT) or related clinical programs. Clinical experience with PTSD, Substance Abuse, Post Deployment Clinic, Mental Health Inesnsive Case Management, and Vet Centers is preferred. Grade Determinations:
In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates. To qualify for the Social Worker (Program Coordinator), GS-12:
Experience and Education:
Must have one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification:
Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and variety and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. Program coordinators at the GS-12 grade level are administratively responsible for a clinical program providing treatment to Veterans in a major specialty area, such as but not limited to:
Spinal Cord Injury, Homeless Continuum Veteran Program, Hospice and Palliative Care Program, Suicide Prevention Program, Veterans Justice Outreach, Caregiver Support Program and Community Nursing Home Program. The program coordinator may be the sole practitioner in this specialty at the facility and typically provide direct patient care services in the program area. The program coordinator oversees the daily operation of the program, develop policies and procedures for program operation, and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They may be responsible for the program's budget, developing and monitoring staff compliance with practice, standards and guidelines on documentation, workload, data entry, ethical practice and service delivery. The program coordinator provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data and computerized programs to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service. They may be responsible for, or contribute to, the program's resource and fiscal management, monitoring control points developing the annual budget, operating within that budget, and accounting for appropriated funds. The program coordinator is administratively responsible for the clinical programming and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They provide leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for assigned staff. They initiate and conduct a variety of program or service audits and complete designated clinical practice audits and reports, including productivity assessments. They oversee program operations and evaluations, identifying areas for improvement, gathering relevant data, assessing the data, developing and implementing ideas for improvement and evaluating efficacy of improvement efforts. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
